Pessarattu or greengram dosa

This is a simple filling meal which needs a little bit of planning the previous day (need to soak the green gram dhal for 8 hours).
Grind green gram dhal (soaked) without any water and add shredded ginger (1tsp) and salt to taste.
If you like onions you can add the same .
Then heat the tava and make pancakes (dosa) out of the batter.
You have tasty pessarattu ready.

KLICKTOCOOK

KLICKTOCOOK

When everything is at the klick of the button so why not recipes..... I love eating and cooking ..  to be honest I enjoy both the activites and it gives me a lot of happiness too... Wanted to share the same with everyone.  I thought this would be a nice forum where people could share simple recipes.

I dont spend more than half an hour or an hour maximum (when I have guests) in the kitchen but I do manage to churn out good tasting food . Wanted to share these everyday simple recipes with everyone and learn from others as well.

Looking forward to lots of learning (from your comments) and more cooking (well eating goes with it ).
Fish Pulusu

Fish Pulusu or Fish in tamarind gravy.

This is an all time favourite of my Mom , actually Pulusu (in Telugu) or Kolambu (in Tamil) is a big hit with South Indians including Keralites.

This dish is the best specially when you are down with a bad cold , I can bet that you will feel better once you have it.

Recipe is simple (will suffice for two) and will take you less than 20 mins too cook. I have never tried writing recipes this is my first one so I do hope I reach out to you.

Soak the tamarind in half glass of warm water. Pour 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok add the seasoning , once it splutters add the fry the onion , once the onion is a little brown add 2 tomatoes , salt to taste and the chilli once the tomatoes become a little soft add a little turmeric and ginger garlic paste. Once they fry for two minutes add the chilli ,pepper, methi and coriander powder . Add the fish or okra and then finally add the tamarind water (not the tamarind). Let it boil for 5 mins and then add another glass of water. Let the mixture boil and once it gets a little thick, your Pulusu is ready.

This tastes best with hot rice and a little ghee (if your body can afford it ).

 Ingredients.

250 gms of Fish or okra (ladies finger) (cut slightly long pieces)
1/2tsp
1 onion (grind if you need a thick consistency)
2 tomatoes
1 chilli
1tsp ginger and garlic paste
a little mustard ,jeera, channa dhal and urad dhal.(for seasoning)
4 cloves of garlic crushed.
1/2tsp pepper
1tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
1/4 tsp methi powder
a few curry leaves.
a small ball of tamarind (depending on how tangy you want the gravy to taste)

 So happy cooking and eating.
